Dunrobin Castle is the most northerly of Scotland's great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. Dunrobin Castle is also one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the early 1300s
Home to the Earls and later The Dukes of Sutherland.

Dunrobin Castle was built around 1275 AD

This impressive castle is the most northerly of Scotland’s great houses, and also the grandest,

A vast array of collections make for an interesting visit as you can browse through the bedrooms, nurseries, studies and public rooms at your own pace

"The Falls of Shin Visitor Centre"
This is a truly wonderful experience for all the family
Set in the Achany Glen, amongst spectacular Highland scenery

When the glaciers melted after the last Ice Age in the UK , the Highland landscape was formed, creating Glens and Lochs. Erosion by debris, boulders and gravel led to the formation of the River Shin and the Falls of Shin which are a natural feature of the River, and are next to the visitor centre.

Here you can watch from the viewing platform Atlantic Salmon
(Mid June to Late September)
Battle to return to their place of birth to spawn the next salmon generation.

The visitor centre shop has a range of exclusive luxury gifts from Harrods of Knightsbridge in London
and superb quality local crafts,

Light refreshments such, morning coffee or afternoon tea, even a full three-course meal, the restaurant is open daily from noon offering delicious seasonal, home made food.
And a chance to do some souvenir shopping in the Highlands

Falls of Shin now "WORLD RENOWNED" Banoffee Pie mmmmm! and a seasonal Strawberry version, double mmmmm ! !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then take the scenic route for our return,  over the summit of
"Struie Hill"
Making our way to

"Millionaires View"

With wonderful views across the water to the mountains of Sutherland and beyond
passing through the award winning floral displays in the town of Alness
